October to December prize draw

If you were one of my hostesses during October, November or December, then you would have qualified for entry into the draw for the Bright Delights rub-ons pack, which includes matching card stock and ribbon, what a great prize! Well the time has come to announce the winner, and my beautiful assistant Tegan helped make the draw:

and the winner is Melanie Morgan! Congratulations Mel, I hope you enjoy using your rub-ons, I will get your prize pack to you this week sometime, ready to make some projects in the new year. Don't forget the Sale-a-bration is coming on January 25th, but if you book a workshop from the 15th I will hold over your order until the extravaganza starts so that you can still qualify for the FREE stamp sets! As my calendar for February is pretty full, this is a great way to still be in the running for those FREE stamp sets by booking early.

Craft class 15th December

These lovely boxes were what we made at the Tuesday craft class on the 15th December, inspired by a design by my fellow Paper Angel Diana Jap. The next class will be on January 5th at 9.30 am, please e-mail me to reserve your spot, only $10.

Nappy cakes

My good friend Danielle had her baby shower at the weekend, and I really couldn't think what to get for her until Carmel suggested making a nappy cake. Well I was really happy with the result (as was Danielle, especially with all the Rose Red Stampin' Up! ribbon!) Here is the finished creation, along with the card I made to go with it. I have to admit before someone else dobs me in, that I was in such a rush to get out the door I actually forgot to write in the card, how embarrassing!

Brisbane Regionals 2009

What a great day it was! Thanks to Liz for driving to South Bank, from where we walked to the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane for a day of training and inspiration. Aaron Scott was MC for the day, leading us through the presentations and 'workshop wows'; he even showed us some of his early work as a grafitti artist(!) before sharing a card idea with us. Somehow Leonie ended up with the finished project which I'm sure she had him autograph to sell on eBay!

Thanks also to Rachael who stepped in at the last minute as my guest - I hope you enjoyed your day and not just my poor attempt at belly dancing... and no I don't have photos!

Kate had a great time swapping cards with other demos, I was very slack and ran out of time to create anything. In fact I think people will be lucky to get Christmas cards this year the rate I'm going!

Me and Aaron, I'm sure he felt something of a celebrity being asked for a photo, but I'm not proud to ask! Shame about the EXIT sign above his head.

Liz was surprised with a bouquet of flowers, created by none other than Ursula. We all appreciate how much effort she puts in to supporting and organising us all, and creating lovely projects for us to make at our meetings, and for all the charity work helping the Mater Mothers.

Me, Liz, Anna and Kate.
When the day was over we went to Ahmet's turkish restaurant at South Bank, boy was it a hot night, we had been frozen in the air con at the hotel, so it was a big shock walking back through the city. I would like to say what a fantastic day I had, made even better by sharing it with friends.

Paper Angels meeting

Before November's Paper Angels get together, we were challenged to create a project using punch art, well that was great as we had just made some of those bottle tags at craft class, so I entered those and also a little card using the new Sweet Treat Cups from the Summer mini catalogue. This was inspired by Julia Bettencourt, and it uses the scallop oval punch for the leaves and elements from the I Wish Simply Scrappin' kit. I won second prize which was lovely as I won a Bright Delights Rub-ons pack (and now I don't feel jealous of the winner of the combo pack who will be announced at the end of this month!). This is one of the many reasons I love being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, especially as a member of the Paper Angels team, as we get to meet regularly and share ideas and provide support for one another. If you would like information on becoming a member of this fabulous team, please contact me.

November stamp club

At stamp club this month guests were invited to create swaps for the group, and we also judged them in a competition. The winning entry was by Justine for her Santa face card, using only punches to create the effect. Well done Justine, who won a mini stamp and ribbon samples. Thanks to everyone who took part, we had great evening making other projects, and sharing ideas and stamps with each other. If you would like to come to stamp club in the new year, it is held the last Saturday of the month from 7.30 pm until I kick you out (!) and costs $5. Booking essential.

Host a workshop to win!

During the months of October, November and December if you hold a workshop you can go in to the drawer for this great combo kit, put together by my friend and colleague Leonie. You will receive the Bright Delights rub-ons pack, 12 sheets of co-ordinating card stock and matching ribbon (exact ribbon subject to stock available)
I still have a couple of dates available in December, so if you want to be in it to win it so to speak, drop me a line now!

Helga's 60th birthday

I made this card for Mike's friend's 60th birthday. I made a card twice the normal size to be able to make all the elements fit nicely, and also because of such a special age. I used Baja Breeze and the co-ordinating patterns DSP, along with the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss and Basic Grey inks. The greeting is from Wonderful Favourites. Happy birthday Helga!

been a while...

Sorry it's been such a long while since the last post, but I have been surprisingly busy (not that I'm complaining about booking increases!)
At the 1st and 3rd Tuesday craft class on the 3rd November we made this beautiful gift set of card and post-it note holder. I used Regal Rose card matched with the Raspberry Tart DSP, and made a window of punched circles to view the ribbon at the back. I hadn't really used this DSP before, but I love the colour combination of Regal Rose, Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss. Try using these colours in your next project and see how lovely they look.

Christmas choccies

I put these yummy choccies in my customers' bags for the Christmas Card Workshops that the Paper Angels are running this year. I used Ski Slope DSP, (only available until the end of November from Stampin' Up!'s mini catalogue) which is an absolute favourite of mine at the moment, and the Spotlight on Christmas stamp set, combined with stitched Chocolate Chip ribbon. You could decorate little chocolate bars for childrens parties or for teachers' gifts too.

Happy birthday Britney!

On the 20th September I went to a party - Britney's 10th birthday party! And I wasn't there just to scoff the food, her Mum Elisa had asked me to put a scrapbooking workshop together that Britney and her four friends could try. The girls were so excited, I hope it wasn't just the lollies! As you can see, we made a friendship page, I took them through it step by step, and they all did a fabulous job. Elisa tok this photo, and others with it, for them to put on their page after they had finished, and it worked a treat. Thanks Elisa for asking me to help out, and thanks Britney for your enthusiasm!

Scarp-a-lope class

The first scheduled scrap-a-lope class took place on Friday night, and I really enjoyed showing the ladies how to make this beautiful ready-to-post scrapbook. Tegan was only little when this photo was taken, she was a cutie, hey?

As you can see Elisa and Justine loved their scrap-a-lope so much they decided to stay later and make another version with some of their left over kit. Thanks for proving the instructions worked girls!

If you would like to schedule your own scrap-a-lope class, book now before the end of November when I will no longer be able to purchase the Ski Slope paper; it is one of the lovely items from the Spring mini Catalogue that is only available until 30th November!

Christmas charity card making events

Please contact me to find out how you can attend this fun event, I will be attending the Victoria Point, Carina Leagues Club and Redlands Sporting Club venues this year.

Tri-fold cards

I finally managed to get around to making these gorgeous tri-fold cards that are popular at the moment. The bottom one was my first attempt, and is OK considering I only used scraps of paper, not really the pieces I wanted! (Didn't want to use the new pack until I knew what I was doing!). The first image shows a different look altogether, which I much prefer, but then anything using the Urban series of DSP is always great I think! I created the background pattern using 'Fifth Avenue Floral' and the one-sheet wonder technique. For those of you keen to know the measurements, the card is 6 x 12 inches, scored at 2, 4, 8 and 10 inches, then turned 90 degrees and cut from the scored line at 2 inches to the scored line at 10 inches, at 1 and a half inches in from the edge. Then you can go to town decorating the card to suit your occassion. Hope you like them!
'Fifth Avenue Floral' stamp set, grey corduroy buttons, Flower Fusion felt flowers, Blooms die cut flowers, 'Urban Oasis' DSP, Kiwi Kiss striped ribbon.

'Washington Apple' DSP, Felt and die cut flowers, flower designer brads, scallop circle punch.

"Please take our photo, Mum, we're not fighting!"

The two monkeys had a rare sisterly moment this week, and wanted it photographed to show that they can get along sometimes... if only there were more of these moments!

Fathers' Day 2009

Fathers' Day was not spent in the usual manner this year, instead we went to a Christening! Our neighbours little boy Alexander had his big day over at 8 Mile Plains, and we were invited to help celebrate which was nice. Mike's fathers' day was still remembered, and the girls made him cards (at school I'm ashamed to say, I was too busy this week to help them...) while I made this matching scrap page and card. I struggled to find a photo of him and the two girls together where everyone has their eyes open(!) hence the two separate photos. The 'D' image comes from 'Greetings Eight', and the DSP is 'Urban Garden'

Choo choo

I would like to thank three ladies on Splitcoast whose cards I cased for stamp club this month, I don't know their real names, but 'designlady', 'mandypandy' and 'maryloves2stamp' are all fab!
Here are the cards I made using the wonderful 'choo choo' set that will be available to purchase on August 1st,
The one on top left was watercoloured and then I also embossed the 'right on track' wheel. Not sure about the wavy red trim, probaby wouldn't do that next time! Top right was very simple but great fun with the gorgeous In Colours Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss and Riding Hood Red. The bottom pull card is great because the carriages are concealed until the recipient opens it, then revealing the greeting.
Stamp Club next month is on Saturday 29th August, please let me know if you would like to come, I have a few spaces left.

Christmas in July event

If you cannot attend this event, why not make a date with me to do it at your house at a time that's more convenient? Get your friends together and start preparing for Christmas, you know it won't be long until it's here!
June Stamp Club
This month we made some funky creations with our punches. I had sourced a few ideas from the web (everyone seemed to have similar ideas so there isn't really any one source to thank, so thanks to all!) and everyone got a paper bag with the items they needed to make the animal or character inside. After a brief run down of how to make them everyone got cracking.
I had an easy time of it for a change, offering advice on the punch creations when needed. Thanks go to Kim for hosting this month, I know it's hard to escape the house on your own these days, so coming to you was a nice change. Back to normal next month, the 25th July, at my place. Here are the finished pieces, displayed beautifully by Kim and Danielle;

Carina card making afternoon

This weekend I was at the Carina Leagues Club with the Paper Angels team making these funky cards. They were designed by Liz and Kathy, and it was great fun making them.

Here is Lisa, Marie and Jacqui (who was lucky enough to win one of the fantastic raffle prizes)

Keep looking on my blog for more events happening.
